Things I like today

I really like the idea of combining different mediums such as this piece which combines painting with stitching.
I really like this idea of using a Gourd as a pot plant. Obviously it wouldn't last forever and I'll never actually eaten a Gourd, but cool idea!

One of the advantages of warmer weather is coming is that we will soon be able to walk around in barefeet instead of socks and slippers! Working from home, i wear slippers, very unfashionable I'm sure. Pic from here

Loving this article. Say no to poncy food hehe. Some of my favourite comfortable food are (veg) sausages and mash; roast veggies; tomato soup; vegemite on turkish bread; avocado on toast with black pepper; spaghetti on toast and the like! Do you have favourites that you return to time and time again? Foods that aren't cool but you love them?

We have lots of mint growing in the garden so I'm going to give tis mint cordial recipe a try. It uses more sugar than I like, but I guess that's what makes the syrup. I think it would go very nicely with gin and vodka ;)

They'd go perfect in these glasses!

2009: My Year in Craft

pic from here

1. In my 12 months of crafting my crafty self made all these
cassette wallets, comic wallets, badges, brooches, embroidered gloves...

2. If my year was a colour it would be...

Red.

3. This year I spent way too many craft hours...
Burning myself out so that I was too tired to actually get any craft work done.

I’ve written a bit about this issue http://rabbitwithpolkadots.blogspot.com/2009/12/where-to-now-with-craftiness.html

4. This year I wish I'd had more craft hours for...
Doing things for myself, sociialising with crafty people. I found myself spending lots of time crafting by myself, which got a bit isolating after a while. I also ended up with lots of unfinished personal projects.

5. My proudest craft moment of the year was...
Seeing the unveiling of the /http://thequiltproject.blogspot.com/ . I’d never done any larger scale embroidery before and it was wonderful being part of a group of amazing women working on something together.

6. My biggest craft disaster was...
Over-extending myself. I missed quite a few social events, over extended myself with orders, markets and stockists and it no longer was fun for quite a while!

7. This year I had stalls at/visited this many markets...about 10 I think

8. My most enjoyable market was...
Definitely Northside Maker’s Market. It’s such a difference participating in a market run by crafty people who genuinely care about the creative process and those who create.

9. My best handmade purchase/present/swap/acquisition was...
Gosh there's so many! This embroidery from New Zealand is perhaps my favourite

10. After this year I swear I'll never again... Burn myself out for so little reward…

11. Next year I'm determined to...do things that make me happy, exercise regularly, travel, embrace new challenges, maintain my new veganism!

12. But I'll probably do this instead...stress the small stuff

How lovely is this room?

My experience with owning bunnies is that there's no way an icecream would stay long on their head, it would be eaten in seconds!

Things I like today

I want to be sitting in this room with this bag.

I'm a sucker for art deco prints like this one...

I'm actually rather scared of Ikea. All those people and children everywhere and signs and paths directing you around the store.... I might have to make a quick dash for these glasses. Just had a look on the site, they don't seem to be stocking them in Australia. Argh....
